Safeguarding Policy

Last updated 18 August 2026

Our cameras stand in places of worship, among families, elders and children. That is a privilege, and this policy sets out how we protect everyone who appears in or works on our broadcasts.

1. Our commitment

Afghan Sikh TV is committed to the safety, dignity and wellbeing of every child and adult who appears in our broadcasts, takes part in our programmes or works with our teams. Safeguarding sits above scheduling, ratings and every other consideration.

2. Filming in the gurdwaras

  • Our fixed cameras frame the darbar and the sangat as a whole. We do not single out or follow individual worshippers, and we honour any request from shrine authorities to pause or reframe a broadcast.
  • Interviews and close filming of any individual happen only with informed consent, and for anyone under eighteen only with the consent of a parent or guardian.
  • We take particular care with vulnerable adults and with anyone whose safety could be affected by being identifiable on an international broadcast.

3. Our people

Staff and volunteers who work with children or vulnerable adults are appropriately vetted before starting, briefed on this policy, and expected to report any concern immediately. A named safeguarding lead reviews every report.

4. Raising a concern

If anything you see in our broadcasts or in our conduct concerns you, contact safeguarding@afghansikh.tv. Every report is read by the safeguarding lead, treated confidentially and acted on. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.

5. Review

This policy is reviewed every year, and after any incident, so that it keeps pace with the channel's growth and with best practice in broadcasting.
